The Dark Side Of High Ticket Affiliate Programs

Many newbies want to make the big bucks right from the start so they look for high ticket affiliate programs to join not realizing what they are getting themselves into.

Getting an online business started is relatively easy because of the low overhead and all the different tools available.

But there are some misconceptions when it comes to making money online with affiliate marketing which I will explain here.

What Is An Affiliate Program

In its simplest form a merchant will pay commissions to any affiliate that sends visitors to their offer or service that makes a purchase.

There are literally millions of companies online that have affiliate programs in every different category including:

  • Health
  • Golf
  • Web Hosting
  • Training Programs
  • Email Marketing
  • Jewelry
  • Logos
  • Coffee
  • Ebay
  • Amazon

The best part about being an affiliate is that it won’t cost you any money to sign up for a legitimate affiliate program.

For example if you wanted to promote products that you found on either eBay or Amazon then you just sign up for free and start marketing.

Same for any company that offers a affiliate program.

What Is Considered A High Ticket Affiliate Program

When it comes to affiliate commissions there’s quite a large range that you can earn.

It can be as low as $0.02 per lead or as much as $100,000 or more.
Relatively speaking when most affiliates think of high paying affiliate programs some examples will include web hosting, email autoresponders and e-commerce shopping carts because these offer re-occurring income which can add up to hundreds of dollars per year.

So as an affiliate if you can land commissions of $1,000 or more these would be considered high ticket.

The Dark Side

In the past several years there have been high ticket affiliate programs popping up disguised as affiliate training programs that offer high ticket commissions.

Some of which have questionable reputations.

Most of the time you will find experienced internet marketers promoting these training programs showing how they make thousands per month.

They usually have a low sign up fee of $49 or less to get started.

Once you sign up for the training and and become an affiliate you’ll find out that without upgrading to the more expensive levels you won’t have a chance of really making any money with that company.

These companies include:

In essence you’re just signing up to promote the company and earn commissions by signing up other people who you teach to do the same thing.

Sounds a little bit like a pyramid scheme right?

Most of these companies have sales teams to pressure you into upgrading which can cost anywhere from $2,500 to $15,000.

Another thing to be aware of is that in order to make any money with the companies that I mentioned above you’re going to need a rather large advertising budget.

When it comes to marketing these high ticket affiliate programs you’re going to need to market the opportunity using Facebook Ads, pay per click or solo ads.

Which will result in spending $100’s to $1,000’s additional per month.

The problem with these types of affiliate programs are that the focus is put on only selling the program itself in order to make money.

Most new affiliates that sign up get caught up in the hype and end up spending much more than they can afford.

So before signing up for any high ticket affiliate program make sure that you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Most legitimate affiliate marketing training programs not only offer training but they also have some of the basic tools that will be needed to get your online business started.

So if you’re new and you’re looking to get started with affiliate marketing don’t feel like you need to pay thousands of dollars to make money online.

The reality is that you will have to put in consistent effort by building a website and using social media to promote affiliate products.

Tips For Choosing Legitimate Affiliate Programs

When getting started with affiliate marketing it may seem confusing and for good reason.

There are so many companies and different products to promote.

That is why it is important to follow some basic guidelines when starting out. Below I have listed some tips to keep in mind:

  • Most affiliate programs are free to sign up with so be weary if anyone is charging.
  • Make sure that you know what your signing up for.
  • If you see affiliates waving hands full or cash and claiming crazy income be weary.
  • Verify how long the company has been around and if the owner has any complaints.
  • Watch out for companies that want you to pay before they show you what the products are.

Final Thoughts

High ticket affiliate programs can provide a nice income and you shouldn’t need to pay $1,000’s of dollars to take advantage of this business model.

With that being said it usually takes some experience to get familiar with how to take advantage of the large commissions that are possible.

If your going to be marketing expensive products then it takes more than just a website. You have to learn how to promote and earn the trust of you visitors.

As easy as it sounds many affiliates never figure it out.

That is why it only makes sense to learn as much as you can the same way that I have. In a couple short years I have built a successful blog that continues to grow and educate those interested in taking advantage of legitimate high ticket affiliate programs.

So if your ready to get started legitimately but your not sure what steps to take then check out my #1 pick here.

It has helped to teach 1,000’s of people how to build an affiliate marketing business from scratch.

  1. My friend has experiences with 6 Figure Mentors and it was not good at all.
I also thought of joining MOBE but this definitely looks like a pyramid scheme so I definitely will not. These don’t end up well. I want to join a program which offers a free trial. Do you have any recommendation?

    • Hey Furkan,

You shouldn’t have to spend $1,000’s to learn the basic skills of affiliate marketing. On top of that there are no tools included such as websites or keyword tools.

If your looking to get started as an affiliate I suggest checking out my favorite training platform.

It is free to get started. If you decide to you want to take your business to the next level then you upgrade to the premium membership that starts at only $30 per month and includes all the tools you will need.

  2. High ticket affiliate programs have always frightened me, despite the success stories I’ve been reading on other blogs. I just don’t feel right promoting something that costs so much, unless I’ve paid for it myself and if I’m not willing to pay for something super expensive, how can I expect someone else to?

    • The problem that I have with them is the fact that they are taking advantage of newbies that believe they need to pay $1,000’s in order to have success online with affiliate marketing.

Just recently the FTC shut down a company that was engaging in this type of practice.

There are some great training programs out there that offer everything needed without breaking the bank!
