Is Poofy Organics A Great Way To Make Money As A Consultant?

Poofy Organics has a great catchy name and when you first hit their website you also realize what their mission is with the products that they sell.

They promote and sell organic products having to do with skin care, cleaning products, essential oils and hair care.

They are also an MLM company so there is the opportunity to join as a consultant and make money selling their products while recruiting others.

The question is what is the potential to make money with this opportunity? Can they compete in this crowded market with the big players?

My review will go over the company and its products to see if it’s worth joining as a consultant or not.

What Is Poofy Organics

The company is small and they are based out of a storefront in New Jersey. They got their start back in 2006 after a family member was diagnosed with cancer.

Wanting to get away from the mass produced chemical laden products from the big manufacturers they started producing their own products.

The production of some of their products is done in-house in small batches and just to get an idea of how they do it you can watch the video below.

Not only does the company pride itself on producing only organically safe products but they also try to have a minimal impact on the environment by using recycled packaging materials some of which are biodegradable.

So now let’s take a look at the product selection that you have to work with if you decide to join as a consultant.

There are eight categories of products.

  • Bath & Body
  • Cosmetics
  • Essential oils
  • Facial Care
  • Hair
  • Home
  • Lip Balm and Oral Care

For the size of the company there are a good amount of products to choose from.

Of course one of the most important factor is going to be the pricing of the products and are they competitive with other companies that sell organic?

Taking a look at their line of cleaning products they have a 16oz bottle of cleaner that retails for $10 per bottle.

Now I wanted to go and see if I could find another organic cleaner as a comparison to see how competitive Poofy Organics pricing would be.

I found a cleaner from the company Better Life listed on Amazon and the cost was $8.44 for a 32 oz bottle.

So comparing the household cleaner from PO with another organic company I found on Amazon it clearly shows that PO’s product is over double the price.

Essential Oils

The company also has their own line of essential oils with a good selection to choose from.

Poofy Organics Essential Oils

Prices start at $6 for a 5ml bottle and cost as much as $75 on the high end. Not all of the products are US made, some are imported from Sri Lanka, India, Albania and Russia.

When it comes to being successful having the quality and pricing to go with it are important especially when selling these category of products.

Other mlm companies such as Avon, Young Living and doTERRA are just some of the many that pose competition as well as online retailers such as Amazon.

Being a small family owned company can help to ensure the quality standards of the products but due to the limited ability to make and buy large quantities retail pricing will not be as low as it could be.

Making Money With Poofy Organics

If you’re into the organic scene and you like the products that PO sells then you might be considering joining the opportunity this MLM company offers.

The Poofy Organics opportunity consists of having hosted parties and recruiting others as a way to earn income.

What I like about the company is that their focus is not just on recruiting others as a way to generate more sales. They are specifically looking for people that want to join the company as consultants because they are happy supporting the products themselves.

How To Join

It’s easy to sign up and become a consultant also known as a “Guide” by going to the company’s website and registering.

There is no need to register through another guide in order to join.

The cost to become a guide is  $39.95.

There is a starter kit called the Guide Collection Kit which is optional. So if you want to join but not purchase any samples until a later date then that’s not a problem.

Ultimately though in order to be successful having hosted parties you’re going to need to have samples and usually the company puts the best sellers in it’s starter kits so new consultants don’t have to guess which ones to purchase individually.

The Guide Collection Kit will cost $99.

The company also makes it clear on their website not to enroll unless you are ready to start your business because they’re not there to enroll people only for discounts on products.

Compensation Plan

Hosting parties is the first step in getting your feet wet with many of these MLM companies. The idea is to get friends, family and co-workers together have a party sell products and make money.

There is no doubt that hosting parties has the advantage of creating the buying atmosphere when you get a group of people together.

Everyone there in the group feels pressure to buy at least one product I would imagine so if you have enough people there you could actually rack up some decent sales.

The chart below shows the potential by having poofy Organics parties.

Hosting Poofy Organics Parties

At the different sales levels there is the opportunity to earn free products as well as get discounts.

The problem with having hosted parties is eventually you exhaust the people that you can get to these parties.

So in the beginning because it’s new you may be able to sell some products but over time unless you can find new interested parties then your sales will slowly dwindle.

With most MLM companies the money is going to be made by recruiting others and earning commissions from their sales.

The poofy Organics Compensation Plan has different ranks as well as bonuses where a consultant can earn.

  • Sales and Rank Bonus
  • Level Overrides
  • Advancement Bonus plus Matching Bonus
  • Generation Overrides

To keep things simple I will just go over the retail commission and bonuses.

As a Poofy Guide you have the potential to earn up to 30% on your retail sales with commissions plus your bonus depending on the volume of sales.

The compensation chart below shows at what sales volume the commission and bonus would be.

Poofy Organics Compensation

So at the basic level without achieving any higher ranks this would be the simplest level to earn at making a guide 25% of 30% on sale.

By climbing the ranks there is also the opportunity to earn another 1% to 6% depending on the level that you reach.

Staying Active

Now before you can get paid any commissions you’re going to need to maintain $200 in personal sales during every 4 month period of time.

It’s also important to note that if you don’t reach your $200 in personal sales you will be removed and lose your downline of recruits.

How Much Can You Make Selling Poofy Organics

Having a good product selection along with a reasonable compensation plan you might be wondering how much money you can make selling Poofy Organics?

Working off the compensation chart we know that it’s possible for a consultant to earn 25% to 30% without any bonuses to start.

So for every $1,000 in product that you sell you would earn $250 to $300.

Now you have to ask yourself how many parties would I need to have in order to reach the goal for the income that I want to achieve.

If you’re looking to replace your full-time job and you make $3,000 per month at that job then you would need to get $30,000 per month in sales of poofy Organics to replace your income.

Of course you could go up the ranks and be able to receive up to 41% commission along with some bonuses but you’re still going to need a large volume of sales to earn a serious income selling these products.

Hosted parties are really not going to be a great way to make a good income with this opportunity.

Ultimately success with this opportunity is going to boil down to how many people you can recruit and sustain over a long period of time to earn residual income.

Being a small company and priding itself on quality control in top-notch ingredients I thought I would do some quick research to see what people thought about the products themselves.

There were some complaints that I found on Yelp such as:

The only thing I would pass on is the deodorant. I’ve tried the stick and the spray and was not happy with the smell and performance.

Another person writes:

Price increases are extreme, so be prepared if you get hooked on something. Some items appear to have gone up anywhere from $2 to $4 and item over the course of a year.

Another person writes:

I ordered mascara from them on June 9th because I was looking for a chemical-free product. Weeks later when I hadn’t received the mascara I emailed them to check on it. Customer service said they were waiting on an ingredient so there would be a delay.

All retail and manufacturers face similar problems. As a small company I have to wonder about the consistency of the products themselves.

Making small batches as they do I’m just wondering if they can keep the quality and consistency the same?

Plus when it comes to purchasing ingredients to make their products trying to negotiate discounts can be difficult because of the small quantities being purchased.

Poofy Organics Pros and Cons

If your still deciding whether this opportunity is for you or not I will highlight some of the good and bad to help with your decision.

Pros ( the good stuff )

  • Company has been in business since 2006
  • Good selection of products
  • Emphasis on quality organic ingredients

Cons ( the not so good stuff )

  • $200 minimum every 4 months or lose downline
  • Small company with risk
  • Income potential limited

The Poofy Organics opportunity is definitely legit and the family behind the products is striving to create a brand in the organic niche that people would be happy using and selling.

Still the question remains, can you make money selling these products?

Personally I would say yes you can make money selling these products but ultimately very few will and the ones that do probably won’t be making a full time income of it.

I also don’t believe the company would have an easy time scaling up if they were to add on a lot of consultants resulting in unhappy customers.

That is why I embrace the affiliate marketing business model.

No need to recruit and you can sell products from many different companies instead of just one. Best of all you can get started building a website at very little cost.
