Is Selling Saladmaster Profitable? [ Any Money In It? ]

The opportunity to make money selling Saladmaster cookware as a consultant may seem like the perfect business for those looking to earn income with high ticket products but is it as easy as it seems?

I have done a couple other reviews on similar MLM companies and what I have found is that the majority of consultants don’t really make any money so I decided to do a review on Salad Master to find out if they offered any advantages over their competitors.

Who is Saladmaster | Review

The company is one of those older mlm’s which got its start back in 1946 by Harry Lemmons.

It’s a typical story about a guy starting a company on a shoestring budget and with only three employees at the time.

He must have been doing something right because he went from 3 salesman to over 100 within a short period of time.

Probably due to the fact that they made a quality product that nobody could compete with and their customers were willing to pay for that quality.

They were later acquired by another manufacturer called Regal Ware in 1979 and to this day they still offer the opportunity of selling high-end cookware by way of the direct sales business model.

Their main product line consists of stainless steel cookware that is made in the USA.

When you talk about features they do have some trademarked technology that includes ways to let you know if your over cooking your food as well as not having to use water while cooking which gives the benefit of locking in vitamins and nutrients.

They do make some bold claims such as cooking with there products will help your food to retain up to 93% of its nutrients.

Whether true or not I’m sure can be debatable.

Another added benefit is they use 316 Steel which is more expensive but offers corrosion resistance resulting in less pitting and crevices.

Based on their quality and innovation you could make a comparison to how Tupperware got its reputation in the food container market targeting consumers that demanded a better product.

They do have competition though from other MLM cookware companies such as Pampered Chef, Vector Marketing and Princess House although you can’t compare their quality to that of Saladmaster at least in some peoples eyes.

Their categories of products include:

  • Food processors
  • Skillets
  • Pans
  • Griddles
  • Stainless steel bowls
  • Cutlery
  • Bakeware

As far as pricing goes there is no price list that is made public so it’s hard to give you an idea of just how much their cookware cost but I did find some on eBay both new and used that will give you an idea of how expensive it can be.

For example here is a 42 piece set that is listed for $3,499 + $300 + shipping along with another couple listings underneath it showing these cookware sets run in the thousands of dollars.

Selling Saladmaster Cookware on eBay

I had also seen on a forum that one of the members added up the cost of the pots that they were interested in purchasing and the total had come to $10,000!

Instead of purchasing them through the consultant they ended up buying them off of eBay because of a big discount.

How Much Money Can You Make Selling Cookware From Saladmaster

Most MLM companies give you an idea of what you will be able to make as far as money when selling their products by listing their compensation plan.

Unfortunately when you go to the Salad Master website they don’t really publish what the potential income is when selling their cookware.

So I had to do a little digging to find out what the commission structure was.

Being that this is a multi-level marketing company the percentage you get paid per sale will depend on what level that you are on along with how many people you have recruited into your downline.

Retail Sales

From what I could gather is that you would be able to earn retail commissions from 10% to 20% depending on your level.

For example if you were a new consultant you would be able to earn 10% retail commissions on your sales.

So if you sold a cookware set for  $3,500 you could expect to earn a commission of $350 on that sale.

Downline Sales

The allure of being in an MLM is that you can recruit others into the opportunity and make money from their sales.

Every time one of your downline sells a cookware set you will be able to earn 2% to 3% commissions on their sales depending on what level you are on.

Although you can earn larger commissions on retail sales you can only spread yourself so thin so ultimately your goal would be to build a large downline where you would be able to earn residual income overtime.

Sounds good in theory but ultimately it is a very difficult thing to accomplish.

How Much Does It Cost to Join

Once again they do not provide any information on their website which could be a good marketing tactic because you would now need to inquire which gives them the chance to sell you on the opportunity.

If you think about it if they listed that you needed to buy a Saladmaster starter kit that cost thousands of dollars how many people would actually sign up?

Unlike other MLM companies that you can get started with for under $100 selling cookware will be a costly investment due to the fact that you need products for demonstrations.

Selling Cookware As A Saladmaster Consultant

When it comes to selling high-ticket products you really need a good presentation because nobody is going to buy a cookware set that costs thousands of dollars when they can just buy from a big box store and get a similar set although the quality might not be the same.

The best way to market these high-end cookware sets will be by doing demonstrations where you can get a group of people involved and show them the benefits of why paying more money will benefit them using this cookware.

The usual method of getting started if your a new consultant is to get all your family, friends and co-workers together which is considered your warm leads.

These are people that you have the best chance of selling right from the start because they already know you.

Once you use up your warm leads then it’s time to start prospecting and finding possible customers that would be interested in these types of products.

Unfortunately buying cookware is not at the top of everyone’s list of things that need to be done. For that reason I have seen where consultants resort to some questionable ways of duping people into demonstrations.

For example some people have claimed that they have received a free dinner to be cooked in their home after registering in some kind of drawing at an event they were at.

Apparently what some consultants do is market free dinners as away to get their foot in the door but the people that receive these free dinners don’t actually realize what it is all about.

Once there the consultant starts their sales pitch trying to sell cookware or possibly recruit them into the opportunity.

So you have to ask yourself before you get involved with this opportunity whether or not you would feel comfortable trying to get leads in this manner?

Have you ever walked through one of those fairs and seen the cooking shows going on where we would sit in front of a booth?

That would be another way that you would need to sell cookware from Saladmaster.

Which brings me to the next thing to consider.

Is This A Lifestyle Business

One thing to consider before becoming a Saladmaster consultant is not only the fact that you will need to spend quite a bit of money to get started but you will need to constantly be doing demonstrations and traveling in order to make any money.

This time commitment will definitely be hard to do if you are currently working a full time job or are a stay at home parent.

You have to ask yourself as well would you enjoy this type of business when it comes to the selling and constant need to do cooking demonstrations?

Final Thoughts

Saladmaster is definitely a legit opportunity but there are some major reasons that you need to carefully consider before joining as a consultant.

There is going to be a large up front investment to get involved and although there is the potential to make money anyone considering this business model should know that the majority of people never actually end up earning any income.

Personally I have always worked towards a work life balance and this type of opportunity never has appealed to me. I hate hard selling and recruiting plus the constant “on the go” lifestyle can wear you down.

Thankfully I discovered the affiliate marketing business model which involves building a website and selling someone else’s products.

It didn’t take long to learn when I found the right training which by the way is absolutely free to get started. That is why I consider it my #1 pick for making money online.
